Margaret Elizabeth McWaters Brown: Loris
1941 – 2026
Margaret Elizabeth McWaters Brown of Loris passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Loris Rehab and Nursing Center. She was 84.
Born Oct. 17, 1941, in Great Falls, she was the daughter of the late John Bunyan McWaters and the late Mary “Foye” McElveen McWaters.
Mrs. Brown worked 33 years for Cinderella Knitting Mills in Great Falls, and she cared for her disabled son for 38 years. In her personal life, she enjoyed reading, puzzles, bowling and bingo. Mrs. Brown never met a stranger and genuinely loved people. The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff at Wilson Senior Care in Loris for the tremendous love and care they gave her.
Survivors include her son, Keith Brown (Bridget) of Lugoff; a daughter, Terri McAuley (Jeff) of Longs; four grandchildren, Daniel Camp, Amanda Camp, Kristin Brown and Stephanie Richburg (Joe); eight great-grandchildren, Seth, Kaitlyn, Madeline, Julianne, Shane, Emma, Kyley and Natalie; and one great-great-grandchild, Riley French; a sister, Rachel Crawford of Elgin; one brother, Tony McWaters (Denise) of Fayetteville, Georgia.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her loving husband of over 65 years, John Gordon Brown, Sr.; her son, John Gordon Brown, Jr.; her sister, Agnes Hicks; and brothers-in-law Jackie Crawford and Oscar Hicks.
Memorial Services will be announced at a later date.
