Violet Pearl Duncan Sawyer: Loris

1945 – 2026

     Violet Pearl Duncan “Phyllis” Sawyer of Loris died Wednesday, Sept. 16. She was 81.

     Born Jan. 12, 1945, in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Will Duncan and Stella Watts Duncan.

     She is survived by two sons, Roy Linwood Buffkin (Christle) of Green Sea and Burroughs Charles Sawyer III (Maggie) of Andrews; seven grandchildren, Brittany Todd (Donovan), Stephanie Buffkin (Dusty), Little Roy Buffkin (Amanda), Collin Sawyer, Ethan Sawyer, Amanda Hardee (Jay) and Joey Hardee; two special nieces, Ruby Shaw and Kathy Strickland; and ten great grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Ann Hardee; eleven sisters; and two brothers.

     Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services in the chapel.
