Hilda Rae Mills Norris: Tabor City

1935 – 2023

     Hilda Rae Mills Norris of Tabor City died Thursday, Dec. 14, in Grand Strand Medical Center, Myrtle Beach. She was 88.

     Born Jan. 4, 1935 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late David Paul Mills and Doris Lee Stephens Mills.

     Ms. Hilda was the visitation hostess at Inman Ward Funeral Home for more than 35 years.

     She is survived by one daughter, Sherry McPherson and husband Mike of Tabor City; one son, Billy Dean Norris and wife Sarah of Tabor City; three grandchildren, Michelle Lupo, Cassadee Norris, and Emily Norris; three great grandchildren, Bethany Lupo, Logan Norris, and Katlyn Cartrette; and a sister, Nancy Turner of Conway.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Vernon “Bill” Norris; two brothers, Larry Mills and Tony Mills; three sisters, Melba Watts, Barbara Grainger, Clara Mills; and two grandsons, Coby Dean Norris and Clayton Norris.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, in New Life Baptist Church, burial following in Spivey Cemetery, Will Inman Road, Tabor City.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services in the church.
