A threat of rain and gusty wind associated with a non-tropical low system expected to develop off the coast this weekend has prompted cancellation of the second annual Heroes Cruise-In & Parade and associated inaugural barbecue cookoff this Saturday, Sept. 14.
“A new date will be set as soon as possible,” a test message from Greater Tabor City Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President Cynthia Nelson said.
Intended as a tribute to all local heroes, first responders to include firefighters, emergency medical workers, law enforcement officers to include probation/parole and correctional officers, dispatchers, and military veterans, the Heroes Cruise-In has a successful inaugural run in 2023, one chamber organizers hope to grow in the coming years.
Rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches are possible with this system, a National Weather Service bulletin on Thursday said, with associated wind gusts of 30 miles per hour, perhaps higher along the coast.
