Shirley Jean Hughes Shannon: Loris

1940 – 2026

     Shirley Jean Hughes Shannon of Loris passed away on Sunday, May 24, at Grand Strand Medical Center. She was 85.

     Born Dec. 4, 1940, in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Thomas Edward Hughes and the late Amanda Pauline Housand Hughes.

     Survivors include her loving children, Chris Shannon, Debbie Dodson, and Lesia Kudelka; a brother, Hal Hughes, Sr.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shannon was predeceased by her husband, Lewis Curtis Shannon; brothers James Wayne Hughes, Lenford Hughes, Douglas Hughes, Windell Edward Hughes, and Ricky Hughes; and a sister, Brenda Stevens.

     Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mark Hughes, Pastor Jon Johnson, and Rev. Mack Hutson officiating. Committal services were private.
