Isla Mae Harrelson: Loris

Isla Mae Currie Harrelson of Loris passed away Monday, Jan. 14 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center following an illness. She was 83.
Born on May 27, 1929 in Loris she was the daughter of Mr. Lewis Currie and Mrs. Iris Shelley Currie.
Mrs. Harrelson retired as an assistant teacher with Green Sea Elementary School and was a longtime and faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was passionate about her flowers, dogs and anything outdoors.
Survivors include her husband, Ben P. Harrelson, Sr. of the home; three sons, Benjamin P. Harrelson Jr. and wife, Gail of Conway, Jimmy Michael Harrelson and Mary Cooke of Florence, and Monte Lewis Harrelson and Amy Howie of Green Sea; four grandchildren, Brett, Scott, Chad and Kyle; five great-grandchildren, Brooke, Olivia, Ryan, Brady and Hammond and a special nephew, Greg Currie.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harrelson was predeceased her brother, Lewis M. Currie.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff of Myrtle Beach Manor for their care and kindness during this difficult time.
Visitation was planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Hardwick Funeral Home in Loris.
Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Thursday Jan. 17 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor David Watts officiating. Committal services were to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
