Leo Porter: Loris

    Leo Porter of Loris passed away Sunday, Jan. 20 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Whiteville. He was 77.
    Born on Jan. 14, 1936 in Loris, Mr. Porter was the son of Mr. Lance Porter and Mrs. Thelma Cartrette Porter. 
    Mr. Porter retired as a farmer and logger and attended Camp Swamp United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ida Jane Porter of the home; stepdaughter, Saundra Grubb of Kernersville; granddaughter, Carriane Starnes and husband, David of Greenville, NC;  two brothers, W.J. Porter and wife, Frances of Siler City, and Levi Porter and wife, Alice of Tabor City; brother-in-law, Hiram Fowler of Tabor City; sister-in-law, Frances Porter of Loris; five nephews, Richard Porter and wife, Sharon, Stevie Porter and wife, Linda, Terry Porter and wife, Ann, Greg Porter and wife, Anita, Jeff Porter and wife, Kathy and four nieces, Diane Elliott and husband, Doug, Donna L. Fowler-Marchant and husband, Scott,  LaCha Goff and husband, Kim and Sandy Dixon and husband Eddie.
    In addition to his parents Mr. Porter was predeceased by a brother, Chan Porter and his sister, Marie Porter Fowler.
    Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21 at Hardwick Funeral Home in Loris.
    Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Camp Swamp United Methodist Church with Pastor Carl Harris officiating.  Committal services were to follow at Camp Swamp Cemetery.
