Oleta Platt Duncan: Little River

Oleta Platt Duncan of Little River passed away Sunday, Jan. 20 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. She was 78.
Born May 12, 1934 in Little River, Mrs. Duncan was the daughter of the late Dewey Victor Platt and the late Eva Blanch Hardee Platt.
Mrs. Duncan retired as a supervisor with Escod Industries and was a longtime member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Sylvia Causey and husband, Danny Ray, of Conway, eight grandchildren: Andera Inman, April Duncan, Jason Causey, Stephanie Foxworth, Kaila Standridge, Crissy Caudill Harper, Teddy Speights and Lynn Speights, 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Platt of Loris, and Billy Platt of Little River; three sisters, Doretha Smith of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., Gertrude “Trudy” Sarvis of Loris, and Bobbie Jean Brannon of Buford, Ga.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Duncan was predeceased by her husband, Eleck Jankins “E.J.” Duncan, three sons: Randy Duncan, Shelton Platt, and Donald Duncan; one brother, Admiral Platt and four sisters, Hattie Stevens, O’Nell King, Louise Edge and Jessie Dell Lewis.
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Hardwick Funeral Home.
Funeral services was planned from 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church with burial following at Platt Family Cemetery. Pastor Dennis Williams and Reverend Mack Hutson will officiate services.
