Minnie Burch Gore: Loris

    Minnie Burch Gore of Loris passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26 at her home in Loris. She was 85.
    She was born  August 27, 1927 at Mt. Croghan in Chesterfield County, to  Benjamin Stephen and Julia Sellers Rivers Burch.
    Minnie grew up in Ruby. She attended Wingate College and was an elementary teacher at Guideway School near Tabor City.
     Minnie married Charles Gore of Pireway, and soon gave up teaching to care for their children and home. She was a faithful member of Olyphic Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as Clerk for many years. She also enjoyed serving in Women’s Missionary Union with the Dock Association. She returned to the public school classroom and retired from Loris Elementary school in Loris. She loved gardening, reading, writing poetry and giving encouragement to others. Minnie’s greatest purpose in life was to live a life pleasing to Jesus and be a friend to others. She gave a lot of love and accomplished her goal with a contagious smile and laughter!
    She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Olin Burch.
    Survivors include her daughters of the Longs/Loris area. Judy (Reggie) Hardee, Jeannette (Phil) Huggins, Beth (Randal) Cox, Gloria (Mack) Heniford, Elaine (Frank) Cox, Almira (special friend, Winford) Gore and her only son and youngest child, Wesley Gore of Myrtle Beach; her sister Mae (Luther) Kelly of Columbia; her four granddaughters and five grandsons; her six great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
    Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28 at Hardwick Funeral Home in Loris.
    A celebration service will planned for 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, at Olyphic Baptist Church located on Hwy. 905 North near Tabor City. Burial was to follow at Olyphic Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Olyphic Baptist Church at 20656 Seven Creeks Highway, Tabor City, NC 28463 or to Shepherd Care Hospice at 210 South Nichols Street, Nichols, SC 29581.
