Herbert Gordon Ferris Jr.: Little River

    Herbert Gordon Ferris, Jr. of Little River passed away Thursday, March 7 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center following an illness. He was 98.
     Mr. Ferris was born on May 2, 1914 in Fort Hunt, Va., son of Mr. Gordon Herbert Ferris, Sr. and Mrs. Jesse Custer Ferris.
    Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Cecilia Lo Guzzo Ferris of the home; four children, Millie Burnett of Sikeston, Mo., Sandy Ward of College Park, Md., G. Edward Calvo of Orlando, Fla., and John Ferris of Little River; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
    In addition to his parents, Mr. Ferris was predeceased by a grandson, Steve Worthington.
    A memorial service was planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Rockingham.
