Wilbur Wendell Cox: Loris

1938 – 2017
Wilbur Wendell Cox of Loris, age 78, passed away on Saturday, March 11, at McLeod Loris hospital. He was 78.
He was born on Oct. 25, 1938 in Loris, a son of the late O.V. Cox, Sr. and the late Inez Mincey Cox. After graduating from Loris High School, Mr. Cox joined the United States Air Force. He served his country faithfully with dignity, courage and honor during the Vietnam War. After 21 years of dedicated service he retired from the military and returned home where he owned and operated Cox’s Party Pak and ABC Store.
Mr. Cox was an avid bass fisherman and active member of the Swamp Fox Bass Masters Fishing Club. He was a longtime member of Glendale Baptist Church but will be most remembered as loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Lois Floyd Cox of the home; one son, Greg Cox and wife, Melinda of Loris; two grandchildren, Hannah Cox and Toni Cox; two brothers, Doug Cox and wife, Diane and Terry Cox both of Loris; three sisters, Carolyn Royals and husband, “W.A.” of Conway, Shelby Plemmons and husband, William of Spartanburg, and Diane Bennett of husband, Ralph of Roebuck; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was predeceased by his son, Tony Lyn Cox; and four brothers, O. V. Cox, Jr., Ed Cox, Bill Cox and Franklin Cox.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Glendale Baptist Church with Pastor Fred Holmes officiating. Committal services with military honors followed at Twin City Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
