Ralph Jennings Cooke: Loris

1931 – 2017

     Ralph Jennings Cooke of Loris, passed away on Friday, March 17, at McLeod Loris hospital. He was 85.
     Mr. Cooke was born on March 26, 1931 in Conway, son of the late Cord Cooke and the late Emaline Hyman Cooke.
     Mr. Cooke served his country with courage and honor in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1955 he started working in the automotive industry and continued until his retirement as owner of Northgate Auto Sales. He was a longtime member of the Loris First United Methodist Church and will be most remembered for the tremendous love and support he showed his family.
     Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Williamson Cooke of the home; two sons, Richard Cooke and wife, Laura of Conway, and Joe Cooke and wife, Christy of Calabash; one daughter, Penny Cooke Stewart and husband, Robert of San Francisco, California; six grandchildren, Gene, Randa, Raven, Layne, Riley and Kaylee; one great-grandchild, Sanai; one sister, Nell Quarrels of Florence; sister-in-law, Jo Williamson Bell of Myrtle Beach, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
    In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooke was predeceased by his two sisters, Helen Parker and Annette Jackson. 
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at Loris First United Methodist Church with Pastor Grady Corder officiating. Committal services followed at Grainger cemetery in the Red Bluff community.
