Lorena Faircloth Grant: Myrtle Beach

1923 – 2017

     Lorena Faircloth Grant of Myrtle Beach passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Sunday, March 26. She was 93.
     Born Nov. 16 1923 in Tabor City, she was the widow of the late Richard Grant.
     She is survived by two children, Linda Hopkinson and Gary Grant; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
     Recently inducted into South Carolina Senior State Games Hall of Fame and a recipient of the Myrtle Beach Volunteer of the Year Award, Rena was known by many as the Pickleball Lady, and had shared the sport with students at South Columbus High School during a previous North Carolina Yam Festival at Tabor City. She was known for getting countless seniors moving by starting tennis, volleyball and pickleball programs.
     A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 31, at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Murrells Inlet.
