Liston Tillman McDowell: Loris

1926 – 2017

     Liston Tillman McDowell passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at his Loris home. He was 91.
     Mr. McDowell was born on Jan. 14, 1926 in Loris, son of the late James Pinkney “Pink” McDowell and the late Callie Floyd McDowell.
     Mr. McDowell served his country with courage and honor in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the American Legion, D.A.V., Loris Lodge # 205 AFM, a charter member of the 40 & 8 Group and a longtime member of Beulah Baptist Church.
     He was most proud of his farm and his construction career which allowed him to build many homes and businesses throughout the entire Horry County area.
     Survivors include his son, Gerrell “Bear” McDowell of Loris; his daughter, Ella Ann Faulk of Loris; two sisters, Eunice Stevens and husband, Bill of Tabor City, and Peggy Gore and husband, “C.C.” of Loris; two loving grandchildren, Patricia McDowell of Loris, and Jerri McDowell of Myrtle Beach; and 16 nieces and nephews.
     In addition to his parents, Mr. McDowell was predeceased by his wife, Eloise Graham McDowell; and five sisters, Pat Culler, Vergie Elwood McDowell Boyd, Bonnie M. Lupo,Vernice M. Boyd and Ethel Elvington.
     Visitation was planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 39, at Hardwick Funeral Home, Loris.
     Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Monday, May 1, at Living Water Baptist Church with Pastor Lebron Crisp officiating, committal services following at Twin City Memorial Gardens.
