Oran Hugie Long: Loris

Oran Hugie Long of Loris passed away Tuesday, May 16 at Conway Manor. He was 73.
Born Nov. 8, 1943 in Loris, he was the son of the late Hugie Oree Long and the late Mary Grace Rowell Dowling Long.
Mr. Long served his country in the United States Army Reserves and worked as a carpenter until his retirement. He will be most remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.
Survivors include his aunt, Alberta Long, who raised him like a son; step-mother, Oletta Long; three sons, Hugie Long and girlfriend, Laurie, Tim Long and wife, Theresa and Ray Long and wife, Amanda; four brothers, David Dowling and wife, Shermaine, Danny Dowling, Doug Long and Scottie Long; four sisters, Linda Shuman and husband, R.T., Vanessa King and husband, Kevin, Linda O’Quinn and husband, Terry and Cindy Long; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Long was predeceased by one son, Roger Long; two brothers, Mike Long and Hilton Dowling and one sister, Sara Ann Hackle.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to Dani Hernandez with Embrace Hospice as well as the nursing staff at Conway Manor for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at Hardwick Funeral Home, Loris.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, in the Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Reverend Tim Brittain and Pastor Charles Horton officiating, committal services following at Hardee Cemetery.
