Hubert Dale Tompkins: Tabor City

1936 – 2017

     Hubert Dale Tompkins of Tabor City died Wednesday, May 17, at his home with his loving wife Brenda by his side. He was 80.
     Mr. Tompkins was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie and Bertie Tompkins of Tabor City, and his son Jeffrey Dale of Fayetteville.? He was a 1954 graduate of Tabor City High School.
    Mr. Tompkins served in the military and graduated from Pembroke State University and afterward received his Masters Degree in Administration from East Carolina University.? He was an accomplished coach, teacher, and principal.
    As a coach he won two state championships, one in basketball and one in baseball. He was loved and respected by his students and fellow teachers.?
    Dale is survived by his wife, Brenda Jenkins Tompkins; daughter, Katherine Page Tompkins Wallace (Patrick); grandson, Luke Patrick of Angier; brother, Jim Tompkins (Joyce) of Tabor City; sister, Faye Tompkins Powell (Bobby) of Loris; sister-in-law, Joyce Jenkins Horne of Laurinburg; and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
    A memorial is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services of Hope Mills. Family planned to receive friends following the service at the funeral home.?
