Shelby Jean Suggs Gunter: North Myrtle Beach

1942 – 2023

     Shelby Jean Suggs Gunter of North Myrtle Beach passed away on Dec. 14 at McLeod Seacoast hospital in Little River. She was 81.

     Born Sept. 6, 1942 in Conway, she was the daughter of the late Worth Bagley Suggs and the late Villa Belle Dorman.

     Ms. Gunter was lovingly called “Grandnanny”. She was an avid basketball player, pet lover and of the Methodist faith.

     Survivors include her three sons, Tim Chestnut (Lou Jane), Todd Chestnut (Dana Petty), Patrick Montgomery (Theresa); one daughter, Wendy Armakovitch (Ernie); a sister, Monice Womack (Lynwood); seven grandchildren, Breanna, Josh, Joe, Bryce, Alex, Noah, and Rylan; and eight great-grandchildren, Lily, Bristol, Peyton, Olivia, Langston, Easton, Amalia, and Christina.

     In addition to her parents, Ms. Gunter was predeceased by one sister.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Dr. Douglas Dorman officiating.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services at the funeral home.
