Bernice Grimsley Ray: Ash

1935 – 2025

     Bernice Grimsley Ray of Ash died Wednesday, Feb. 12, in Brunswick Health & Rehab, in Ash. She was 90.

     Born Sept. 2, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William Alton Grimsley and Lillie Fipps Grimsley.

     She is survived by three daughters, Shelia Roberts of Tabor City Diane Fowler (Vernie), and Brenda Herring (Steve) of Tabor City; two sons, Davey Ray (Donna) of Tabor City and Dickie Ray (Grace) of Loris; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister; and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Grant Ray; one daughter, Judy Ray; two sons, Dailon Ray and Chris Ray; two brothers and three sisters.

     A graveside service was planned for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in Myrtle Green Cemetery.

     Family planned to receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
