Junior N. Cox: Loris
Junior N. Cox of Loris passed away Friday evening, April 5, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center following an illness. He was 86.
Born on Jan. 13, 1927 in Loris, he was the son of Tallie Cox and Martha Orilla Spivey Cox.
Mr. Cox served his country with courage and honor in the United States Marine Corps, after which he worked and retired from the City of Loris and was the previous owner of the Gulf station in Loris. Mr. Cox attended Mt. Vernon Baptist Church but will be most remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his two daughters, Jan Holt and husband, Glenn, of Longs, and Linda Williamson and husband, Rolly, of Orangeburg; four grandsons, Garrett and Lance Holt, and Tobin and Carl Williamson; one granddaughter, Amanda Garrick and husband, Dan; seven great grandchildren, Madison, Tanner, Ashby, Graysen, Walker, Blakely and Bayler Garrick; one brother, Archie “Buddy” Cox of Arizona and three sisters, Helen Rector and Lila Purkey both of Gastonia, and Doris Ann Fowler of Tabor City.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was predeceased by his wife, Veronica Bullard Cox; one brother, Talmadge Cox and two sisters, Louise Simmons and Lois Jewel Vess.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 8 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with entombment at Twin City Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Pastor Rodney Hord officiated.
