Governor’s reward in April murder of Fair Bluff woman

By DEUCE NIVEN

A state reward of up to $5,000 is being offered in connection with the murder of Fair Bluff woman in April, Gov. Pat McCrory announced Wednesday.
Connie Jean Nealey Simmons, 60, was shot three times in what police at the time described as a home invasion on April 3. Her body was discovered some time after she was killed in her home at 2123 Main Street, near the western edge of the river town, Columbus County Assistant Coroner William Hannah said at the time.
Police Chief Chris Chafin has kept most details of the crime private, saying releasing too much too soon could hinder the investigation.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact the Fair Bluff Police Department at 910-649-7323 or the State Bureau of Investigation at 919-662-4500.
