SCHS tops East Bladen, to host Eastern finals: UPDATE

South Columbus outlasted East Bladen 42-41 in a nail biter at Civitan Stadium that paves the way for the Stallions to host John A. Holmes in the Eastern Regional North Carolina 2A high school football finals next Friday night.
Holmes earned the berth defeating top seeded Northeastern 28-14 Friday night.
The winner next week will play for the state 2A championship at Wake Forest University on Saturday, Dec. 17. Kickoff for that game is 7:05 p.m.
Kickoff for the South Columbus vs. John A. Holmes game at Civitan Stadium next Friday is 7:30 p.m.

South Columbus took a 42-16 halftime lead to a 75-42 victory in the second round of the North Carolina High School football playoffs Friday night.
Green Sea Floyds ended a remarkable turnaround year, falling hard at C.E. Murray 32-6, Senior Mohammed Graham good for the Trojans only touchdown for the night on a four-yard scamper. Graham carried for 78 yards on 20 carries, ending the year with 1,131 yards rushing.
South Columbus’ win came on a night with few defensive highlights, the victory allowing the Stallions to maintain its home field advantage in the third ground, playing East Bladen at SCHS next Friday, kickoff set at 7:30 p.m.
East Bladen defeated Ayden-Grifton Friday night.

South Columbus and Green Sea Floyds advanced to the second round of their respective high school varsity football playoffs on Friday night, while Loris High took a punishing 21-6 loss on the road at Timberland to end the Lions 2016 campaign.
South Columbus extended a 21-14 halftime lead to claim a 42-26 home stand victory over the Bertie County Falcons at Civitan Stadium. It was a back-and-fourth game in the first half, with Bertie scoring first, South Columbus quickly tying the score. Bertie would tie the game more than once, but never again claimed the lead.
Green Sea Floyds, in post-season play for the first time in nine years, crushed Military Magnet at North Charleston 52-23.
Assuming a Fairmont win, which seemed likely late Friday, South Columbus is to host the Golden Tornadoes in second round playoff action next Friday night.
