Wright named City Clerk/Treasurer

After serving as acting Loris City Clerk/Treasurer for the past six months, Kenya Wright was formally appointed to the permanent post during a special City Council session Thursday. Wright, who has served as the city’s Clerk of Court for more than seven years, will be paid $40,000 a year in her new post. Wright has handled both clerk/treasurer and court duties since the resignation of former Clerk/Treasurer Bridgett Fowler, and has assisted with other City Hall duties during her tenure there.
A new Clerk of Court will be sought immediately, said Acting City Administrator Damon Kempski.
Mayor Henry Nichols was absent from Thursday’s meeting due to health issues. Council interviewed three of four finalists for the post, with one of the applicants a no-show.
