Sheila Gibson Lanier: Clarendon

1963 – 2020

     Sheila Gibson Lanier of Clarendon, formerly of Bladenboro passed away on Sunday, Dec. 13. She was 57.

     A first grade teacher at Williams Township School, she was also the pianist and choir leader at Forest Lawn Baptist Church, loved working in Vacation Bible School, and was active in many church activities.

     She is survived by her husband of 39 years, the love of her life, Kim Lanier of the home; a son, Jordan Gibson Lanier of Whiteville; a daughter, Keyna Lanier Floyd of the home; her mother, Sue Galloway and step-father, Dr. Harry Galloway of Whiteville; three sisters, Gaye G. Davis and Amanda G. Sykes of Bladenboro and Shonta G. Clemmons of Whiteville; two step brothers, Dwight Galloway and Jeff Galloway; three grandchildren, and several nephews, nieces, step nephews, and a great niece.

     She was preceded in death by her father, Buddy Gibson; maternal grandparents L.C. and Ruth Thompson ;and paternal grandparents Bill and Alma Gibson.

     A Celebration of Life service was planned for 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at Forest Lawn Baptist Church with Rev. Bradley Tatum and Rev. Allen Thompson officiating, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

     Family planned to receive friends following the service.

     Due to the COVID-19 pandemic all who attend are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Lawn Baptist Church 16025 James B. White Hwy S, Tabor City, NC 28463.
