1952 – 2022
Henry Oliver Holmes, Jr. of Tabor City passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, at his home. He was 70.
He was born March 1, 1952, in Horry County, the son of the late Henry Oliver Holmes and Mary Gertrude (Stevens) Holmes.
Henry was a lifetime member of Loris Masonic Lodge #205 and worked for Winn Dixie for more than 33 years as the meat market manager.
He was a long-time member of Dogwood Hill Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, on the baptismal committee, and the social committee.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy (Soles) Holmes of the home; one son, Wendell Oliver (Kathy) Holmes of Bolivia; a daughter, Kerri Letitia Holmes of Tabor City; and two grandchildren, Kenzie Letitia Gaskins and Jody Bruce Gaskins.
He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Patricia H. Thompson and Virginia H. Harrelson.
Family planned to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Inman Ward Funeral Home in Tabor City.
A funeral service was planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, in Dogwood Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Jimmy Floyd and Rev. Mack Hutson officiating; burial, with Masonic Rites, following in Twin City Memorial Gardens in Loris.
