Bernice Stroud Norris: Tabor City

1932 – 2022

     Bernice Stroud Norris of Tabor City died Monday, Sept. 26. She was 90.

     Born May 12, 1932 in Horry County, she was the daughter of the late William Bertie “W.B.” Stroud and Rosanna Strickland Stroud and the widow of Royce Hartful Norris.

     She was a member of Emerson Original Free Will Baptist Church.

     She is survived by two sons, Richard Hartford Norris and wife Lana of Powder Springs, Georgia and Phillip Victor Norris and wife Leslie of Chadbourn; one brother, Clayton Stroud and wife Carol of Rock Hill; a sister, Louise Stroud and husband Bill of Galivants Ferry; four grandchildren, Ginger Thompson, Tiffany Norris, Josiah Norris, Olivia Norris; and three great grandchildren, Gentry Thompson, Maggie Grace Thompson, and Axon Norris.

     In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

     Visitation will was planned from 1 to 1:45 p.m., preceding the service, in the chapel.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472.
