Carol Jean Gibson Hewitt: Whiteville

1936 – 2022

     Carol Jean Gibson Hewitt of Whiteville died Sunday, Nov. 13, in Shoreland Healthcare, Whiteville. She was 86.

     Born Feb. 5, 1936 in Bladen County, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert Lonnie Gibson and Alma Mae Autry Gibson.

     She is survived by two sons, Legrande Hewitt and wife Karen of Whiteville and Dean Hewitt and wife Bobbi of Stokesdale; a brother, Ray Gibson of Bladenboro; one sister, Eula Mae Packer of Bladenboro; special friend Sue Galloway of Whiteville; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Jean Hewitt Davis; four brothers, Jack Gibson, James Gibson, W.L. Gibson, Buddy Gibson; and two sisters, Mattie Jane Feltwell and Christine Smith.

     A graveside service was planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in Bladen Memorial Gardens, Bladenboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abbottsburg Baptist Church, 309 Bradshaw Road, Bladenboro, NC 28320.
