Holliday Shannon: Conway

1939 – 2022

     Holliday Shannon passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, at his home in Conway, following an illness. He was 83.

     Born May 6, 1939, he was the son of the late Moen King and the late Leila Shannon Hucks. Mr. Shannon owned and operated the Texaco station in Loris for many years, and then Shannon’s Car Dealership prior to his retirement. He and his wife attended Riverside Baptist Church.

     Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Elaine Porter Shannon; two sons, Holiday Shannon, Jr. and wife Michelle and Dennie Ray Shannon and wife Stacy; a daughter, Lavada Turner and husband Michael; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Willie Baker and wife Hazel; and three sisters, Dorothy Todd and husband Lindy, Carrie Larrimore and husband Dale, and Linda Gail Hardee and husband Lacy.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Shannon was predeceased by three brothers, Wallace Shannon, Robert Baker, and Olin Hucks; and three sisters, Sheila Ann Hucks, Roseanne Hucks, and Bonnie Faye Hucks.

     Memorial services were planned for 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Rev. Roger Porter and Rev. Mike Gerald officiating.

     Family planned to receive friends during the two hours preceding services at the funeral home.

     Private committal services will be held at a later date.
