Phillip Braxton Coats, Jr.: Loris

1952 – 2022

     Phillip “Phil” Braxton Coats, Jr. of Loris passed away on Saturday, Dec. 3, at McLeod Seacoast hospital. He was 70.

     Mr. Coats was born on July 17, 1952, in Loris, a son of the late, Phillip Braxton Coats and the late Maggie Louise Johnson Coats Jordan. Mr. Coats owned and operated Phil Coats Construction Co. and he was a longtime active member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

     Survivors include his two daughters, Lori Mishoe and husband Bobby, Kimberly Coats and husband Steven Gitchell; four grandchildren, Dawson Mishoe, Samantha Mishoe, Chloey Gitchell and Callie Gitchell; a brother, Ray Coats and wife Kay; and sister-in-law Lois Coats, all of Loris.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Coats was predeceased by his wife, Rachel Holmes Coats; and two brothers, Reece Coats and Henry Coats.

     Family planned to receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at Hardwick Funeral Home.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Macedonia Baptist Church with Pastor Alvin Jackson and Reverend Ragsdale Allsbrook officiating, committal services following at Pleasant Meadow Cemetery.
