Sue Taylor Lay: Tabor City

1943 – 2023

     Sue Taylor Lay of Tabor City passed away on Saturday, Jan. 7. She was 79.

     Born June 13, 1943 in Whiteville, she was the daughter of the late Harley James Taylor and the late Helen Winn Singletary Taylor.

     Mrs. Lay spent many years substitute teaching for Tabor City schools and worked with McLeod Seacoast and McLeod Loris in the admissions offices. She was a long time member of Buck Creek Baptist Church and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

     Survivors include her husband, Keith Gordon Lay, Sr.; two children, Lisa Perritte (Danny) and Keith Gordon Lay, Jr. (Beth); four grandchildren, Jeremy Coker (Jodi), Matthew Coker (Sarah), Grant Lay, and Andrew Lay; three great-grandchildren, Claire Coker, Matthew Coker, and Harley Coker; her brother, Henry Taylor; and two sisters, Ruby Shelley and Peggy Smith.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Buck Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Allen officiating.

     Family planned to receive friends immediately following committal services at Buck Creek Cemetery.
