Hilda P. Clemons: Green Sea
1932 – 2023
Hilda P. Clemons of Green Sea said goodbye to her family Saturday morning, Jan. 14, and was welcomed to her heavenly home by family members who had gone before her. She was 90.
Born Jan. 19, 1932, in Mullins, she was the daughter of the late Braxton and Dora Blanton Phillips. She was the widow of Hubert C. Clemons of Green Sea.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Clemons was predeceased by daughter, Carolyn Clemons, and son Phil Clemons.
She is survived by two sons, Hubert Carroll Clemons Jr. (Polly) David Clark Clemons, one daughter, Hilda Clemons Shelly (Dale) all of Green Sea; five grandchildren, Sunny Philips, Chris Shelley, John, Jody and Jeremy Clemons; eleven great-grandchildren, Farrah Holmes, Johnna Rich, Jaelynn Hewett, Rigby Philips, Maddy Philips, Nettie Philips, Sarah Lil, Jack Shelley, Jacob Springs, Ellora Shelley, Eli Clemons; and five great-great grandchildren. She loved them all dearly.
She will always be remembered by her love for flowers, and everyone would go to her and ask for advice on how to take care of certain flowers, shrubs and plants. Passing her house, you would find her in the yard pulling weeds from flower beds or mowing her lawn. She took much pride in having her home and surrounding grounds appealing to the eye. Her crafts of choice for years involved, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. There’s provably not one member of her family or other relatives that does not have a piece of her beautiful handy work.
Mrs. Clemons was lovingly referred to as “Bubba” by all of her children and grandchildren. Her talent as a great cook will also be remembered by all that knew her. If you came to her house hungry you didn’t leave that way.
A Celebration of Life was planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, entombment following in Green Sea Cemetery, Green Sea.
Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding the service in the chapel.
Flowers are kindly accepted, however in lieu of flowers a contribution given to the Green Sea Cemetery Fund P.O. Box 62 Green Sea, SC 29545 in honor of Mrs. Clemons would be greatly appreciated.
