Brookie Mae Hardee Spivey: Tabor City
1932 – 2023
Brookie Mae Hardee Spivey of Tabor City died Sunday, Feb. 12, in her home. She was 90.
Born in Horry County, she was the daughter of the late James E. Hardee and Gussie Tyler Hardee.
She was the widow of Marvin Spivey. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church; she loved the Lord and Savior and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved gardening and cooking collard greens and homemade biscuits for her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Kay Spivey and husband Charles of Whiteville, Renee Spivey Sellers and husband David of Tabor City; two sons, Randy Spivey and wife Kim of Chadbourn, Mike Spivey and wife Susie of Chadbourn; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one, great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son, Maurice Lynn Spivey; and an infant daughter.
Visitation was planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, burial following in the Spivey Cemetery on Spivey Ward Drive, Tabor City.
Pallbearers include, Buddy Spivey, Shannon Spivey, Wesley Spivey, Blake Spivey, Brandon Spivey, Justin Spivey, Hunter Spivey, Chris Spivey and Jordan Luther.
