Lloyd Joseph Duncan: Clarendon

1945 – 2023

     Lloyd Joseph “Steve” Duncan of Clarendon died Tuesday evening, May 2, in his home surrounded by his family.

     Born Dec. 30, 1945, in Yonkers, New York, he was the son of the late John Gaston Duncan and Mary Ann Semanich Duncan.

     He was a life-long car enthusiast and retired from the NC Department of Corrections. He was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church.

     He is survived by his wife, Patricia Turbeville Duncan of the home; two daughters, Dr. Peggy Sue Duncan Barnhill and her husband John Ashley Barnhill of Whiteville and Mary Ann Duncan Simmons and her husband Ricky Scott Simmons of Rocky Point; four grandchildren, Reagan Elizabeth Barnhill, Ashland Chase Barnhill, Bailey Gray Barnhill, and Sawyer Duncan Simmons; three nieces; a nephew; and special friends Timothy and Tammy Simmons (Logan and Laney).

     A special note of thanks to Tabitha Hardee and the Liberty Home Health Care Team, Christie Bowen and the staff of Liberty Hospice, and Jamie Fipps and the Fresenius Dialysis Center.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard John Duncan.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in the Mollie Community, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services in the church.
