Jesse Daniel Long: Nakina

1943 – 2023

     Jesse Daniel “Bo” Long of Nakina died Sunday, May 28, in UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. He was 80.

     Born Jan. 29, 1943 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late James Ranson Long and Dessie Lee Williams Long.

     He is survived by his wife, Kathleen L. Long of the home; two sons, Mark Long and wife Debbie of Shallotte and Matthew Long and wife Patti of Nakina; two daughters, Darlene L. Ward and husband Darrell and Rebecca L. Worley and husband Dewayne, all of Nakina; a brother, Jason Long of Shallotte; one sister, Doris Ellen Ward of Shallotte; eight grandchildren, Cody, Jennifer, Seth, Whitney, Caleb, Jamie Lynn, Jesse and Landon; and seven great grandchildren.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, in Palmyra Baptist Church, burial following in the church cemetery.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services in the church.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Palmyra Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 12753 New Britton Hwy. E., Whiteville, NC 28472.
