Shirley Jane Norris: Tabor City

1952 – 2023

     Shirley Jane Norris of Tabor City died Friday, May 26, in her home surrounded by her family. She was 70.

     Born in Lexington, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Homer James Sutton and Frances Laws Sutton.

     She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Original Freewill Baptist Church.

     She is survived by her husband, Rev. Steward Norris of Tabor City; three sons, Jeffrey Norris and wife Tammy of Clarendon, Jonathan Norris and wife Heather of Tabor City, and Joshua Norris and wife Julie of Tabor City; three sisters, Katherine Gordon, Marie Queen, and Linda Saddler all of Lexington, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren, Shonna, Whitney, Kyle, Caroline, Cameron, Trevor, Chandler, Madison, Caleb, Cailee, Haven; and seven great grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Sutton; and five sisters, Mildred Ballow, Della Queen, Janice Osbourne, Barbara Crawford and Thelma Sutton.

     Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City.
