Ruth Strickland Branton: Loris

1943 – 2023

     Ruth Strickland Branton of Loris passed away Saturday, July 8, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 79.

     Mrs. Branton was born in Conway, a daughter of the late Julius and Leila Hardwick Strickland.

     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Branton was predeceased by her first husband, James Carroll; her second husband, Rev. Bobby Branton, Sr.; and three brothers, Joe, Harry, and Bennie Strickland.

     Survivors include her two sons, James David Carroll and Bobby Carroll of Conway; two brothers, Aubrey Strickland and Lester Strickland; a sister, Reba Huggins; one stepson, Bobby T. Branton, Jr. of Loris; two stepdaughters, Norma Jean Branton and Lou Ann Branton Best of Conway; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Dogwood Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Floyd officiating, burial following at New Home Cemetery.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services in the church fellowship hall.
