Joseph Mark Rhodes Sr.: Loris

1960 – 2023

     Joseph Mark Rhodes Sr. of Loris died Wednesday, Sept. 27, in the Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston. He was 63.

     Born in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Joseph Leon Rhodes and Pauline Ward Rhodes.

     He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard.

     He is survived by his wife, Shawn Rhodes of Loris; three daughters, Cora Mogyoros of Loris, Tyana Soles of Denver, Colorado, and Shannon Marlowe of Tabor City; two sons, Joseph Mark Rhodes Jr. of Loris and Wade Soles (Cheyenne) of Tabor City; two brothers, Larry Rhodes (Kathy) of Marion, North Carolina and Cecil Blackburn (Crystal) of Crusoe Island; three sisters, Frances Baldwin of Little River, SC, Naomi Cartrette (Larry) of Clarendon, and Linda Barton (Glenn) of Pembroke; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Michele Aldridge; and eleven nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Kade Soles, Lincoln Soles, and Serenity Soles.

     A Celebration of Life service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.
