Douglas Eldridge Stevens: Loris

1938 – 2023

     Douglas Eldridge Stevens of Loris passed away on Sunday, Dec. 24, at McLeod Seacoast in Little River. He was 85.

     Born Nov. 12, 1938, in Loris, he was the son of the late Buren Stevens and the late Eulyn Russ Stevens.

     Mr. Stevens farmed and worked with AVX for 41 years until his retirement. He was a member of Cane Branch Baptist Church, and enjoyed playing the banjo, guitar, and harmonica in his free time.

     Survivors include his wife, Nelda Stevens; two sons, Douglas Stevens, II (Leigh Ann) and Craig Stevens; a daughter, Marla Bell (Glenn); three grandchildren, Douglas Stevens, III (Abby), Daniel Stevens, and Logan Bell.

     In addition to his parents Mr. Stevens was predeceased by two brothers, Clyde Ray Stevens and Clayton Stevens; and four sisters, Lucille Hardee, Judy Small, Lena Goud and Pauline Knutson.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jonathan W. Mishoe and Mr. Ron Hucks officiating, committal services following at Stevens Cemetery.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services at the funeral home.
