Funeral Services for Mrs. Miriam A. Potter of North Augusta, South Carolina, who entered into rest Dec. 29, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, in Twin City Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Loris. She was 102.
Mrs. Potter was a native of Marietta, North Carolina, having made Loris, South Carolina her lifelong residence. She was a member of the Loris First Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and the WMU.
Mrs. Potter was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Chamber of Commerce. She and her husband John worked together in the department store business, owning, and operating eight department stores in eastern North and South Carolina. The Leder-Potter Department Store was in Loris where they made their home.
In the last few years, Mrs. Potter made her home in North Augusta with her son, John, where she was able to enjoy time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Potter was predeceased by her husband John P. Potter, Sr. and her daughter, Linda P. King.
Survivors include a son, John P. Potter, Jr. and his wife, Galan; five grandchildren, Thom King (Amber), Jane Rangel, John Potter, III (Ashleigh), Bryant Potter and his fiancé, Katie Wetzel and Myles Potter (Katheryn Anne); five great-grandchildren; a sister, Sybil Morales; a son-in-law, Tommy King; and several nieces and nephews.
Family planned to receive friends following the service at the Mausoleum.
