Linda Elaine Jones: Whiteville

1946 – 2024

     Linda Elaine Jones of Whiteville died Tuesday, Jan. 23, in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter Angel House in Whiteville. She was 77.

     Born in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late William Hewey Buffkin and Estelle Fowler Buffkin.

     She is survived by her husband, Monroe Jones of Whiteville; one daughter, Dena Lee Cox; a brother, Dickie Buffkin of Lake Waccamaw; two sisters, Ann Eckard of Belmont and Sue Wilson of Whiteville; three half-brothers, Dick Buffkin, Joe Buffkin, Bill Buffkin; one granddaughter; and other extended family and friends.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson.

     Graveside services were planned for 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.

     Family planned to receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
