Bobbie Suggs Stevens: Loris

1937 – 2024

     Bobbie Suggs Stevens of Loris went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 13. She was 87.

     Born Jan. 1, 1937 in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Lester G. Suggs and the late Mary P. Suggs.

     Mrs. Stevens was a very generous person, loved to work in her garden, sing in the church choir, baking, and learning to play the piano. Mrs. Stevens was a loving homemaker and member of Cane Branch Baptist Church.

     Mrs. Stevens received her degree in nursing at Saunders Memorial Hospital, Florence. She worked for many years at Wilson Clinic in Florence. She also was an Industrial Nurse and a nurse for the late John D. Thomas up until she retired.

     One of her favorite sayings was, “Don’t worry about anything, for things always have a way of working out.”

     Survivors include her daughter, Robin Causey (William); two grandchildren, Kristie Causey of Loris and Jason Causey (Jewels) of Florence; special niece Shirley Suggs; and two great-grandchildren, Jaylah and Avery of Loris.

     In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clayton Stevens; a son, Michael Thomas; seven brothers, Homer Suggs, Burris Suggs, Orby Suggs, Ottis Suggs, Leston Suggs, James Suggs, and Leton Suggs; and three sisters, Ruby Suggs, Esta Mae Suggs, and Vallie Bell.

     Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Cane Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Jon Johnson officiating, committal services following at Cane Branch Cemetery.
