Vernell M. Turner: Loris

1935 – 2024

     Vernell M. Turner of Loris passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, in Southport. She was 89.

     Mrs. Turner was born in Conway, a daughter of the late Earl Van Dorn Martin and the late Elizabeth Bessie Alford Martin.

     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Turner was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Turner; two sisters, Odessa Adams and Rosa Bratcher; four brothers, Paul Martin, Junior Martin, A.D. Martin, and Leroy Martin; and one grandson.

     Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Turner Deal of Oak Island; one son, Tommy Earl Turner of Loris; a sister, Mary Cecil Sarvis of Florence; two grandchildren; one great grandson; and a great-great granddaughter.

     Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Trinity Baptist Church in Loris with Rev. Randy Ghent officiating, burial following at the Bayboro Baptist Church Cemetery.
