Larry Gene Floyd, Sr.: North Myrtle Beach
1940 – 2024
Larry Gene Floyd, Sr. of North Myrtle Beach passed away on Saturday, March 23. He was 83.
Larry was born June 19, 1940 in Loris, the son of the late Odell Forest Floyd and the late Eloise Ward Floyd.
Mr. Floyd was an entrepreneur who owned numerous businesses over the course of his life including Floyd’s Insulation Company and Cherry Grove Sales and Rentals. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and true friend to all who were blessed to have known him, as he never met a stranger.
Throughout his life, Larry was a talented artist, an avid fisherman, savvy boater and outdoorsman who traveled the world with his friends and family. He shared many of the stories of his adventures over his home cooked meals, as he had a passion for cooking and entertaining others. He was a history enthusiast, a lifetime Mason, and a very active Shriner who held many civic leadership roles over the course of his life.
Survivors include his son, Chip Floyd and wife Gretchen of North Myrtle Beach; his daughter, Leslie Corron and husband David of Winter Garden, Florida; six grandchildren, Dr. Coleman James Parler, David Grayson Parler, Forest Huntley Floyd, Marshall Bason Floyd, Hanna Gray Corron, and Haley Lynn Corron; two sisters, Sandy Hardwick of North Myrtle Beach and “Ceci” Miller and husband, Jerry of Austin, Texas; and son-in-law David W. Parler of Lexington.
In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his loving wife, Lynn Bason Floyd; and a daughter, Julia Lynn Floyd Parler.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at a later date.
