Verona Stevens Gore: Longs
1941 – 2024
Verona Stevens Gore of Longs passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 17, at her home. She was 82.
Born Sept. 26, 1941, in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Willie B. Stevens and the late Inez Tyler Stevens.
Mrs. Gore was a longtime active member of Buck Creek Baptist Church and member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked as a beautician in her early years and a CNA for many years before her retirement.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Billy D. Gore; two sons, Mark A. Gore and Shawn Gore (Diana); granddaughter Casey Willard (Will); great-granddaughter Tilley Cate Willard; and six siblings, Shirley Harris, Fayda Esposito (John), Margie Carmichael (M.D.), Wanda Todd (Randall), Jerry Stevens (Brenda), and Craig Stevens (Becky).
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Jessica Hughes; and three brothers, W.B. Stevens, James Stevens, Eugene Stevens; and her beloved cat “Princess”.
Memorial services were planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Buck Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Allen officiating.
Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services at the church.
