Letha Mae Norris James: Whiteville

1940 – 2024

     Letha Mae Norris James of Whiteville passed away on Wednesday, April 24. She was 83.

     Born Aug. 12, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Leon Norris and the late Jenny Lee Spivey Norris.

     Mrs. James is survived by her four sons, Teinne James and Gleon James of Whiteville, Lewis D. James of California, and Ryan James of Welcome; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild on the way; and seven siblings, Elbert Norris, Michael Norris of Lexington, and Geraldine Simmons of Lexington, Terry Norris of California, Pam Morris and Vanessa Joye of Wilmington.

     In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, William “Shorty” Clayton James; a son, William Leonard James; and two brothers, Ray Norris and Gary Norris.

     Funeral services were planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Coleman Cemetery.

     Visitation was planned during the 90 minutes preceding services in the chapel.
