Trudy McDaniel Fisher: Loris

1938 – 2024

     Gertrude “Trudy” Covington McDaniel Fisher of Loris passed away on Wednesday, May 8, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence. She was 85.

     Born Dec. 16, 1938, in Bennettsville, she was the daughter of the late Mark McDaniel and the late Gladys Covington McDaniel. She was a longtime active member of Loris First Baptist Church.

     Trudy was a devoted wife of 65 years. She was a perfect boy-mom. She loved all things Gamecock Sports and Cherry Grove Beach. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzler, and needle worker. Trudy loved her family and friends with a true servant’s heart. She will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

     Survivors include her husband, Willis Gerald Fisher Jr., of Loris; her three sons, Willis “Wick” G. Fisher III (Jane), Mark Thomas Fisher (Paige), and John “Jay” Covington Fisher (Heather); her five grandchildren, Thomas Fisher (Leigh Anne), Becca Mercer (Ryan), John Fisher, Jacob Fisher, and Hannah Fisher; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Fisher, Hampton Mercer, Tatum Grace Mercer, and Wells Mercer; and her best friend of 80+ years, Mrs. Joan Beth Floyd.

     Family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to McLeod Hospice for their compassionate care during this difficult time.

     Memorial services were planned for noon Saturday, May 18, at Loris First Baptist Church with Rev. Hunter Johnson officiating.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services at the church.

     In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be made to Loris First Baptist Church, 3117 Main Street, Loris, SC 29569.
