Samuel “Sammy” Phillips: Green Sea

1939 – 2024

     Samuel “Sammy” Phillips of Green Sea died Saturday, May 25, in McLeod Seacoast hospital, Little River. He was 84.

     Born in Horry County, he was the son of the late McKinley and Easter Snow Pridgen Phillips.

     He is survived by his wife, Wilma Ernestine Johnson Phillips of the home; two daughters, Toni P. Elliott and husband Dean of Nichols and Nikki P. Strickland of Green Sea; a sister, Bernice Johnson of Mullins; two grandchildren, Meagan Elliott Dew with husband Brian, and Trevor Strickland; and one great-grandchild, Jace “JJ” Dew.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tracy Phillips and Grover Phillips; and a sister, Addie Mae Norris.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, in Inman Ward Funeral Home, Tabor City.

     Graveside services were planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, in the Floyds Freewill Baptist Cemetery, Three Bend Road, Nichols.
