Billie Jo Tyler: Loris

1937 – 2024

     Billie Jo Tyler of Loris passed away on Monday, Aug. 19. She was 87.

     Mrs. Tyler was born in Loris, a daughter of the late John Talmadge and Myrtle M. Prince.

     In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Junior Tyler; her sister, Wilhemina Cannon; brother-in-law Clarence Cannon; and sisters-in-law Peggy Prince and Sylvia Prince.

     She was a retired business partner with her son in their family business, Loris Refrigeration, Heating, and Cooling and previously retired from Carolina Dental Care as Insurance Clerk.

     Mrs. Tyler was a lifelong, active member of Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Loris where she enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and serving in many other capacities. She enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family and friends.

     Mrs. Tyler is survived by her daughter, Carmen Hardee and her husband Glenn of Loris; her son, Kendall Tyler and his wife Lora of Loris; four grandchildren, Zac Hardee and his wife Bianca of Myrtle Beach, Erin Johnson and her husband Walker of Fort Mill, Bailey Tyler Rouse and her husband Phillip of Longs, and Dylan Tyler and his wife Katelyn of Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Dean Johnson of Fort Mill and Bristol Hardee of Myrtle Beach; four step-grandchildren, Devon Oakes, Alan Oakes, Jemma Oakes, and Blake Oakes all of Myrtle Beach; her brothers, Junior Prince and his wife Dot of North Myrtle Beach, Bobby Prince of Timmonsville, and Barry Prince of Loris; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John Holmes, Rev. David Watts, and Rev. Joey Price officiating. Committal services followed at Cane Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brandon Jones and Rev. Ragsdale Allsbrook officiating.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding services at the church.

     Family thanks Mrs. Tyler’s McLeod Hospice team for their care and her Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church family for their love, support, and prayers during her illness.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2020 Daisy Road, Loris, SC 29569.
