James Derrick Harrelson: Wilmington

1946 – 2024

     James Derrick “Ricky” Harrelson of Wilmington died Tuesday, Aug. 27. He was 78.

     Born July 10, 1946 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late J.C. Harrelson and Lorena Bennett Harrelson Fowler and the widower of Linda Grainger Harrelson.

     He is survived by his daughter, Jamie Lynn Crist and husband Jason of Willard; a son, Derrick Harrelson and wife Julia of Willard; nine grandchildren, Haley Moseley, Samantha Crist, Brayden Crist, Bryce Harrelson, Ryleigh Harrelson, James Harrelson, Pyper Harrelson, Reece Harrelson, Dani Harrelson; and three great-grandchildren, Ella Moseley, John Moseley, Jr. and William Moseley.

     He is also survived by a brother, Duane Harrelson of Statesville.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mt. Zion Road, Loris.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services in the chapel.
