Rev. Alvin Joseph Morris: Parkton

1936 – 2024

     Rev. Alvin “Al” Joseph Morris of Parkton, formerly of Nakina, died Friday, Sept. 6, in UNC Health Southeastern, Lumberton. He was 88.

     Born May 16, 1936 in Pascagoula, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Tom and Cecil Morris.

     He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

     He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Faye Gore Morris of the home; two daughters, Debra McNeill of Parkton and April Rogers of Red Springs; one brother, Thomas “Tommy” Jefferson Morris of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Barbara Maulden of Picayune, Mississippi and Debbie Pucheu of Kiln; four grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Alvin Michael ; and a brother, John Morris.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in Inman Ward Funeral Home, Tabor City.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, in Bethesda Fellowship Church, 6758 Manley Smith Road, Nakina, burial following in the church cemetery.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital 950 West Faris Rd Greenville, SC 29605.
