Richard Douglas Grainger: Tabor City

1949 – 2024

     Richard Douglas Grainger of Tabor City died Sunday, Sept. 15, surrounded by his loving family. He was 75.

     Born Sept. 13, 1949 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late William Billy Grainger and Hazel Strickland Grainger.

     He is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Grainger Ellis and husband Greg of Wilmington; a son, Neal Grainger and wife Jessica of Wilmington; one sister, Sheryl Dameron of Tabor City; and four grandchildren, Emma Kate Ellis, Lauren Ellis, Zachary Grainger, and Logan Grainger.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Strickland.

     Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the Inman Ward Funeral Chapel, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services in the chapel.
